Common causes

Dev server still cached. Stop and restart npm run dev after editing .env.local — Next inlines NEXT_PUBLIC_ vars at start.
Wrong domain format. Use the bare your-store.myshopify.com — no https://, no trailing slash, not your custom domain.
Token missing scopes. The Storefront access token needs unauthenticated_read_product_listings and unauthenticated_read_product_inventory at minimum. Recheck under Configure Storefront API scopes in your custom app.
Products not published to the app's sales channel. In Shopify admin, open a product → Publishing in the right rail → make sure your custom app is checked.
